And they're off!
Dad and I took these pictures of Chris and Emily as they were preparing to begin their PCT hike. Note the US/Mexican border (wall) in the background.

Anniversary weekend
Well Jon and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary this weekend by going to a small town called Sutter Creek in Northern California. We stayed at a really nice bed and breakfast and went wine tasting. We hired a guy to drive us around in his 1937 La Salle Cadillac and take us to the wineries in Amador county. Really fun experience! There happened to be a Porsche club at one of the wineries, and Jon was in heaven.
On our way home, we went mining. We toured an old gold mine, and went 550 feet below ground. It was really neat to be underground and see the quartz and gold in the walls.

My First Quilt
When we were home for Christmas, Mom gave me a bag full of fabrics and a partially created quilt that she started sometime in the 80's. I decided to take the completed parts and create a birthday present for Mema. I enjoyed every step of the process, from piecing to actually quilting, and hand-sewing the binding (great TV watching activity!). The best part of the process was using Mom's sewing machine that has been so graciously give to me.
It was definitely a labor of love!

home alone
Well, all are gone, the beds are changed and the fleas are under control. Tomorrow I am going the the Country Club for a party, to eat and drink and dance. (I hope I can find someone to drive me!) And, I plan to go to the driving range and set up a lesson for Thursday. Life is tough! But shortly I will be traveling home to KY, leaving my playground until next winter.
